Director of Photography, MJ Abiva: I linked with my good friend and longtime collaborator Edson Maldonado. Initially we wanted to do a quick Instagram video, 9x16, get the choreo on video, we’re in, we’re out, we’re done. But knowing us, we decided to go in. Horizontal, small storyline, lighting, BTS. The whole 9. This was the first dance visual of the year for us; so I asked the Boat + Bridge crew to assist. We have too much fun on set, but we get the job done.

Edson, Caitlin Marks and Chelsea Hong execute the choreography with such finesse; it’s hard to look away. Or it might just be the clothing pieces provided to us by John from STYISHEIGHT8. Maybe it’s both.

STYLISHEIGHT8 is located in Union City, New Jersey, and they carefully curate the pieces. Everything on the racks are for sale and at a solid price, too. I think Caitlin and Chelsea went shopping right after.

We used Andrew’s old Sony camcorder for a low-fi look that was meant to emulate a security camera, and used it for handy behind the scenes. I’m thinking of bringing that around more. Being on set with us is fun. You should try it some time.
